A documentary 13 years in the making, American Promise provides a rare look into the lives of two middle class black families as they navigate the ups and downs of parenting and educating their sons. The filmmakers’ goal is to empower boys, their parents and educators and help close the black male achievement gap.

Using excerpts from the documentary American Promise as a catalyst, this half-day Community Forum will engage a range of stakeholders, particularly schools and organizations serving youth in the middle grades. Join us to explore how community partnerships can provide students with the school, family and community supports they need and provide at-risk students with targeted strategies and interventions.
