Abigail Johnson

SR. PROGRAM OFFICER, MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Abigail “Abbey” Johnson is a systems-minded, partnership-driven leader committed to reimagining how communities support the mental health and well-being of young people. As a senior program officer, Mental Health and Well-Being at the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, she leads efforts to strengthen youth resilience, expand belonging, and improve the crisis systems young people and families depend on.

Abbey’s work is grounded in her ability to translate public health evidence into coordinated action across government, philanthropy, and community partners. She brings experience shaping national and local initiatives, most recently at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), where she advanced maternal and child health priorities and national stakeholder engagement.

Previously, she held roles at the de Beaumont Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she managed grant portfolios, advanced policy initiatives, and led cross-sector efforts to improve community health outcomes.

She began her career in Richmond, Virginia, partnering with schools and city agencies to create safer, healthier, and more connected environments for young people and communities; an experience that continues to ground her approach to prevention and systems change.

Abbey holds a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a recipient of the HHS Meritorious Service Award, the Georgia Gamechangers designation, and the Memorial Foundation Social Justice Fellowship. Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors, traveling, and saying yes to spontaneous adventures.
