Looking Ahead: A Leadership Transition Message from Fay Twersky
To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
After much reflection, I have decided that it is time for my season as President of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation to come to a close. I am filled with gratitude to Arthur and the Blank family for the gift of these remarkable five plus years. It has been the experience of a lifetime.
I am so proud of what we have accomplished together, of the talented and committed team we have built and the exceptional nonprofit organizations with which we partner. Our board has continuously focused on impact and making a meaningful difference in peoples’ lives – encouraging us to be bold with dramatic increases in giving. We have been able to develop “swing for the fences” strategies in our collective giving areas of democracy, environment, mental health and well-being, youth development and the Westside of Atlanta. And we are blessed with wonderful funding partners in all we do.
We have made a myriad of meaningful grants as part of our Chairman’s Founder Initiatives, to amazing organizations, especially those enabling new opportunity for young people – in sports, health, education, workforce, civics and more – helping people discover and live their best lives. Working with my colleagues throughout the Blank Family of Businesses has been inspiring and has unlocked innovation with our sports teams and catalyzed important initiatives from our West Creek Ranch.
When my wife Jill and I moved to Atlanta, we came with open minds. Now, we call Atlanta home, and we are here with very full hearts.
As I reflect on my life and career, it is hard to believe that a kid who went to college on a Pell grant became president of a foundation. And not just any foundation. Working for a remarkable man and his family who are committed to enduring values – of listening, generosity, innovation and putting people at the center of everything we do – makes me believe that anything is possible.
Our board will begin a national search for the next President. I will remain in my role until my successor arrives and will serve as an advisor to the search process.
I am so grateful for this season.
I look forward to having more time with family, and I have promises yet to keep with my wife, Jill. This next chapter will be our season.
My time here has been filled with purpose, growth and love. It is time for me to say the biggest thank you possible.
Fay
