David Coffman

Program Officer, Democracy

David Coffman joined the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation as program officer for Democracy in October 2025. In this role, he supports the foundation’s Democracy strategy and its network of grantees. 

David brings two decades of experience in the social sector, spanning nonprofit organizations and the state and federal government. Prior to joining the foundation, he served as a deputy regional administrator at AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service, where he focused on building collaborative relationships with grantees and advancing community-driven initiatives. Earlier in his career, David served as executive director of the Thanks Mom & Dad Fund, a Georgia-based grantmaking organization that supports programs for older adults. 

David is from the mountains of Appalachia and is a graduate of Berea College in Kentucky. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of New Orleans and is an alumnus of the American Express Leadership Academy 2.0 at the Aspen Institute, as well as the Bill Emerson Congressional Hunger Fellowship. Outside of work, David has a passion for gardening and is engaged in a never-ending battle against invasive species.
