Get in the Game: the Black Sports Business Symposium
AMB Sports and Entertainment and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation are proud to support the second annual Black Sports Business Symposium (BlackSportsBiz) taking place April 13-15, 2023, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Launched in 2022, BlackSportsBiz is an event that unites, cultivates, illuminates and celebrates Black professionals and students in the sports business industry. BlackSportsBiz was founded by sports industry executives to create a more inclusive and equitable professional sports community by uniting Black professionals and students in sports business. The event serves as an opportunity for Black talent acquisition, engagement and development within professional sports, spanning leagues, teams, agencies and beyond, for all career levels.
The 2022 event was overwhelmingly successful with multiple organizations across the sports industry impacting the lives of more than 2,000 students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities seeking career paths in the industry, professionals exploring career progression and established leaders who shared insights. BlackSportsBiz includes panel discussions, workshops, keynote and featured speakers, as well as engagement between employers and prospective candidates, from college students and recent graduates to veterans of the c-suite.
In acknowledgment of the need for greater diversity in sports and the barriers of entry that exist for young people, Arthur M. Blank has committed to sponsoring 100 of the best and brightest students to attend this year’s BlackSportsBiz through the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation for the second year in a row.
BlackSportsBiz attendees do so much more than just attend an event. There is a true sense of community at the symposium as speakers, executives, students and professionals create opportunities for themselves and for others to become full participants, and leaders, in the sports industry.
Rashaad Shakir, Delaware State University Class of 2023 and Inside Sales Representative for the Washington Commanders, attended BlackSportsBiz in 2022 and had this to say about the event, “My experience at the symposium was life changing. It opened doors for me and allowed me to take advantage of opportunities that I otherwise wouldn’t have access to. The symposium creates a space where people of color not only feel advocated for, but also advocated to. It provides gateway opportunities for Black students and professionals to further progress or pursue their desired careers in sports and entertainment. The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation along with the Black Sports Business Symposium helped make the trip possible for me in a monumental way. Because of this blessing, I was able to take proactive steps in building the foundation for my career in sports.”
